Inside My $165,000 Tiny Home In Joshua Tree, California | Hop in and Tour the Casita Conejo Harebnb!
Hello and welcome to my tiny home in Joshua Tree, California! While this casita is only 300sf, it makes up for its small size through outdoor space and luxurious finish-outs.
When I built the first iteration of this tiny house in Los Angeles, I knew I could make it even better. So I set out to build the ultimate version of this lil' gem out in the desert.
This project was $165,000 and took a year to build from start to finish (permitting and land acquisition included). The aforementioned price includes all land, permitting, drafting, engineering and contracting fees. While it's easy to think the price tag of this home is on the high side, you must remember it is located in Southern California...but more importantly, it's still a house—a small house, but a house nonetheless. There are many sunk costs associated with building a home such as foundation and framing costs. When you're building at such a small size, there are no efficiencies of scale. That's the unfortunate reality of building a TRUE tiny house on a fixed foundation.
